Kindness is love in action. It is the sincere and voluntary use of our time, talent, and resources to better the lives of others, our own lives, and the world through genuine acts of compassion, generosity, honesty, and service.

Evidence is information that enables and empowers you to own your story. It is the dance of science and intuition. Expert recommendation and cultural tradition. When it exists, research and data are powerful tools for setting high-level policies, and, also, you are a unique individual who gets to decide what evidence you rely on within the context of your lived experience.

Hospitality ​​is going above and beyond to ensure that everyone feels valued, welcomed, and honored for exactly who they are at this moment in time. It is breaking down barriers that inhibit access and building up a radically inclusive, socially just, environment in its place.

Empathy is human connection. It requires courage and vulnerability, and while we cannot fully understand what it’s like to be in your shoes, we do know what it’s like to be a human with complex emotions and needs. We witness your struggle and your strength without judgment, and we vow to lean in, rather than shrink back, when things get hard.

Joy is the choice to see Beauty, even when things aren’t pretty every day. It is cultivated internally, rather than sourced from external circumstances, which may be fleeting. There is joy in our work together.

  • You are most qualified to make decisions about your body, your birth, and your baby.


  • In the Reproductive Justice framework. That is, "the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities." (SisterSong)


  • Any way you choose to bring your baby into this world is amazing. We affirm your choice to pursue adoption, surrogacy, or assisted reproductive technology.


  • Queer families are beautiful.


  • Black Lives Matter.


  • All bodies are good bodies. You should never be marginalized because of size, shape, color, gender, or disability. You deserve to be treated with care and respect -- period.


  • Birth stories make a life-long impact. Birthworkers must be trauma-informed.
