Hi, I'm Jillian (she/her)!
Birth Doula | Fertility Coach | Educator
Mental Health Advocate | Trauma-Informed Professional
I'm so glad you're here. I began my journey as a birth doula in 2018 when I was pregnant with my first daughter, and I've since supported nearly 100 births in the Twin Cities. I've been to nearly all local birth locations with countless combinations of providers, preferences and outcomes.
My goal is for clients to feeI educated & empowered to make decisions that are right for their body, their baby, and their future. Because nobody knows what's best for you, except for you.
In 2021, I expanded my services to help families navigate fertility challenges and Assisted Reproductive Technologies like IUI and IVF.
I approach my work with a healthy dose of both
head and heart, appreciating what research and modern medicine can teach us while also honoring your cultural wisdom and knowledge of your own body. I'm humbled and honored to do this work, and I hope to have the chance to talk with you soon!
"My greatest desire is to support clients through life's biggest moments -- the most beautiful and the most challenging (spoiler: in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, they're often one and the same!)"

what I do here...
help you find calm, clarity, and confidence so that you can own your birth story
Trauma-informed support for all kinds of birth.
Birth is a miracle every single time, no matter how it happens. And birth is hard every single time, no matter how it happens. You deserve to be held and supported fully, so that you can look back on your unique birth story with power and peace; with a strengthened belief in yourself and a deeper reverence for the abilities of your body, heart, and mind.
Your body isn't broken, and you're not alone.
Fertility challenges, loss, and assisted reproductive technology (IUI, IVF, etc) can be incredibly confusing, overwhelming, and isolating. Let me help you carry the burden and reduce your stress levels.
Knowledge is power, and your time is valuable.
You want practical, evidence-based information about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum delivered in a fun, engaging, and time-efficient way...
Maybe you also want to be in your pajamas, snuggled on the couch with your dog (Minnesota winters are no joke!)? And you also want the benefits of a live educator answering your questions, plus hands-on practice for comfort measures... is it too much to ask? Not at all! Private birth, lactation, and newborn care classes sound right up your alley.

"The birth of our second son was a particularly emotional time because we lost our first son shortly after he was born prematurely. Jillian met us exactly where we were at and could not have been more compassionate, gentle, and knowledgeable.
She helped us advocate with our medical team for what we thought was best for me and our baby, and she supported and empowered us during an exciting but also uncertain and overwhelming time. Ultimately, I achieved my goal of having a successful VBAC and being able to latch and breastfeed my son during his first hour in the world."

In the Reproductive Justice framework. That is "the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities." (SisterSong)
You start making parenting decisions the moment you intend to welcome a child into your family.
Any way you choose to bring your baby into this world is amazing.
Black Lives Matter, Queer families are beautiful, and all bodies are good bodies.
Birth stories make a life-long impact. Birthworkers must be trauma-informed.

What Exactly Is "Birth Support" anyway?
I'm a Doula. Here's the #1 Tip I give my clients.
Birth Plans, Preferences, and Vibes...Oh My!
If you're like most people, hearing the phrase "support" in the context of birth might sound a lot like when consulting companies provide "solutions" to businesses ...what does it even mean?
How is it that two people can both experience the same outcome (a c-section, for example) and one person can come out completely traumatized while the other finds it empowering?
"You can't control birth. Expectations are just disappointments waiting to happen"
Raise your hand if you've heard that one before...
