COVID-19 Policies and Practices

After careful consideration, and in line with our values of kindness, evidence, hospitality, empathy, and joy, MSP Doulas has adopted the following practices for serving clients during the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • We trust our leaders at the CDC to provide us with the most up to date information about how to keep our clients, our families, and ourselves healthy and well. As CDC recommendations change, our policies and practices may change in accordance.

  • We are both fully vaccinated and boosted. All eligible members of our households are also vaccinated and boosted.

  • At this time, we are choosing to wear masks around clients during prenatal visits, labor support, and postpartum shifts. If you are unvaccinated, we may also wear additional PPE like a face shield or other eye protection.

  • If clients or support people are vaccinated, they are welcome to choose whether or not wearing a mask around us makes them comfortable.

  • If clients or support people are not vaccinated, we ask that they wear a mask during prenatal and postpartum visits. We kindly request that that unvaccinated support people also wear a mask while we are present for labor support.

  • If the doulas choose not to attend the client’s birth because of CDC guidelines or if hospitals do not allow professional doulas in the birthing room because of COVID-19, the doulas will provide virtual support for the client’s birth and refund the client $250.

  • If the doulas choose not to attend the client’s prenatal and postpartum meetings in person because of guidance from the CDC, the doulas will provide virtual support and refund the client $50 per virtual visit.

We are all weary of this pandemic and the special precautions we must take. However, we know that the only way to get through it is together. We are here for you and will make every effort possible to provide safe in person support for you and your family during these extraordinarily challenging times.
