We operate as a doula partnership, which means that you get the expertise, experience, and perspective of two doulas, rather than just one. Our clients build relationships with both of us equally throughout prenatal meetings, and we operate a loose on-call schedule to determine who goes to each birth, postpartum shift, or lactation visit.
Here's some context on why we do things this way...
Most doulas operate as a solo practice with a back-up. This works great for many people -- but the obvious downside is that if your doula gets sick, has a family emergency, or is on vacation, you won't know the doula at your birth.
On the other end of the service spectrum, there are doula agencies who contract with individual doulas to make up your support "team." This model may seem more reliable, but here, the downside is that you don't always get to choose the doulas who will make up your team. Additionally, because the doulas are contractors, they may choose to step back during your pregnancy. While a new doula would be brought in to ensure you still have support, you may not receive the same continuity you're looking for.
We see our partnership as the best of both worlds. A partnership model ensures that you'll not only have someone familiar available to support you -- it's one of two people you personally chose in the hiring process.
